Sorry, this fireplace is SOLD. This tall and exceptional fireplace was made in the mid of the 19th century of the highly valued Brèche de Violet marble and Carrara Statuary marble, thus playins with the colors contrasts. The linteau in Carrara shows a central shield in the center, flanked by bas-and low releid decorations, foilage and chimeras, all carved with details and care. The frame shows bollection mouldings. The Napoléon lll style is highly eclectic, 1852-1870. Instead of finding inspiration of one single period, the designers created joyful exubernce from all sources. During this period, a resurgence of Renaissance, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI and Gothic styles appeared. The Brèche de Violet is a marble with high standards, used in many important places, like churches in Italy, rooms at the Versailles Palace, the Grand Trianon. It was used for valued fireplaces and luxurious furniture. The dimensions of this fireplace providing an extra impact.
