A charming Louis XV-style fireplace, made out of the Belgian "Rance" marble. The serpentine shelf rest above a paneled frieze. This frieze (or linteau) is centered with a nice and deeply, crispy,carved Rococo-cartouche. The frieze is flanked by smaler shell endblocks, on top of the tapering, canted and paneled jambs. French (nord Paris), late 19th century. Including a decorative insert in cast iron, if you like.
