This very old and beautiful aged cast iron fireback dates back to the Gothic period ! This period spanned from the mid 12th to the late 16th century. It originated in France and than spread across Europe, during the high and late middle ages. This fireback is depicting a Coat of Arms, highlighted by thick twisted ropes. Also 3 faces to see. Note the orb at the bottom, as well as the little ropes, topped by some Fleur de Lis and the two dolphins (a kind of created and barbed fish). All beautiful aged by use and time. Origin: France.
