This pleasent Napoléon III fireplace was made during the second half of the nineteenth century in Belgium, the country where you could find the blackest black marble that excist: Noir de Mazy. The rounded, double moulded shelf rests above a linteau, highlited by facet-appliques in powerful red marble: Rouge du Languedoc. The combination of these two marbles gives great vivid and movement.
