Perfect condition, period 1855-1860, Mons-Belgium. A very nice lion's paws antique fireplace, made of the highly valued Italien Bleu Turquin. The massive jambs are adorned with nicely carved, large Acanthus leaves. Two little Ormolu-bronzes are decorating the endblocks.This fireplace, imposing and elegant, has a tablet-size of 130 cm and a thickness of 4,5 cm. The Bleu Turquin marble is used since classical times. Particularly popular as material for Empire sculptures, furnitures and fireplaces, due to its softines, strength, elegance and air of luxury.
